Fall Program 2004
"The Wisdom Within Us"
The Institute for the Humanities at Salado is pleased to announce that
four outstanding and nationally recognized speakers will participate in
the Institute's fall lecture series entitled, "The Wisdom Within Us."
All presenters are experts in some aspect of the mind and spirit - the
topic for the fall lecture series - that will explore the mind for
meaning and understanding.
Sept 25-26: Dean Radin, Ph.D. -- Senior Scientist at the Institute of
Noetic Sciences, experimental psychologist and psi researcher, and
author of The Conscious Universe..
Saturday Seminar, Sept. 25, 10a.m.-2p.m., Lunch included, The Range,
Salado; “The Outer Limits of Inner Space"
Sunday Lecture and Reception with the Speaker, Sept 26, 4 p.m., Salado
Civic Center; “When Mind and Matter Meet”
Oct. 9: John Horgan, author and award-winning journalist, author of
Rational Mysticism-Dispatches from the Border Between Science and
Spirituality, and The End of Science.
"Lunch with the Speaker", Saturday Oct. 9, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The
Mansion, Salado; Informal conversations about the relationship between
science, mysticism, and religion.
Saturday Lecture and Reception, Oct. 9, 5-7 p.m., Salado Civic Center;
"Rational Mysticism: Can Science and Spirituality Be Reconciled?"
Oct. 23-24: Harry Wilmer, M.D., psychiatrist, Jungian analyst, writer,
professor, founder of the Institute for the Humanities at Salado,
author, How Dreams Help and Understandable Jung-The Personal Side of
Jungian Psychology.
Saturday Seminar, Oct. 23, 10a.m. - 2p.m., Historical Room, Salado Civic
Center; "The Nuts and Bolts of Jungian Psychology" (lunch included).
Sunday Lecture and Reception Oct. 24, 4-6 p.m., Salado Civic Center;
“The Inner World of Art - The Story of My Yarn Painting".
Nov. 7: Huston Smith, Ph.D.. religious author, philosopher, and
professor; Author of Why Religion Matters and The World's Religions, the
standard textbook in its field.
Sunday Lecture, Nov. 7, 4-6 p.m., Walton Chapel, University of Mary
Hardin-Baylor. "The Sacred Unconscious". Open to the Public. Tickets are
$20 for adults and $5 for students and may be bought in advance through
the Institute at 947-5729 or will be available at the door.
