Spring ‘06
Program to Start Sunday Feb. 19!!
The Institute’s spring series is just around the corner – in fact, we
are starting early this year on Feb. 19, so don’t let the first lecture
slip up on you. You don’t want to miss it.
We are excited about our programs for this year. Deepening the American
Dream is the title of the spring series. We felt that in this time of
natural disasters, war and an uncertain economy, if would be good to
examine who we are as a nation, where we’ve been and how we can make our
country better.
Scheduled to present are three prominent writer/thinker/teachers that
have studied this subject and have very important ideas of how we can
make a difference in our future.
Go to Spring Program 2006 for details and to sign up.
Go to Program Brochures to
access our spring brochure.

Update on Institute
Activities:
Storytelling Series: Our Fall events were a success with a record
number of participants enjoying the storytelling series, especially our
Storytelling Concert with storytellers Elizabeth Ellis, David Holt, and
Bill Mooney.
Living Room Theatre Benefit for Institute: Look for information
about a special fundraiser benefit for the Institute coming in April,
compliments of the Salado Living Room Theatre. That event will feature
of Salado Stories written and performed by local residents, about our
community and his history. The proceeds from that special performance
will benefit the Institute. More information about that special event
will be posted here. Institute members will be sent a special invitation
by mail.
Member Input Wanted: The Board will be communicating with the
general membership soon to discuss the state of the Institute and get
input on its direction for the future. Stand by for additional details.
Our members will receive more information by mail.
Wilmer Memorial Lecture Created: The first, annual Wilmer
Memorial Lecture will be held in June, on the first Sunday, June 4, of
that month. The Harry Wilmer Lectureship, formerly held in January, is
being combined with the Hank Wilmer Memorial Lecture, usually held in
June, to create the Wilmer Memorial Lectureship to honor both Harry and
Hank Wilmer. As with the other two lectures, it will be free and open to
the public.
Author, businesswoman, and philanthropist, Marilyn Tam is scheduled to
give that lecture. She is the founder of the Us Foundation whose purpose
is to raise the awareness of and to promote and create action to support
the highest common good, and the interconnectedness of all. The Us
Foundation serves as a network and consultant for people, organizations
and businesses that are aligned with this mission, so they can unite
their energies to further the transformation to a mutually responsible
and cooperative global society.
